Red Raspberry Leaf Tea

Bff ade tanye aper perasaan saya bila dah sarat n tak lama lagi nak deliver n have own baby?
Erm, tipu lah kalau nak kata excited n x cuak. Saya akan ckp agak panik bila fikirkan. Mana tidaknya, ramai yang ckp lahirkan anak pertama lebih sakit dr yg seterusnya. Ramai yang ckp ubat selusuh/buka jalan homopati agak berkesan. Dan my old fren pulak ade suggestkan tea ni: Red Raspberry Leaf Tea. Sebelum mencubanya kene la study dulu psl produk ni ye dak. Jom baca;

1. I have used raspberry leaf tea with all my pregnancies and had really good labours with all 3, whether this is a coincidence or not i dont know.

I started at 32 weeks i think its 1 cup a day (it says on the packet), its not such a bad taste i used to add sugar to make it easier to drink you will find after drinking it for a while you get used to the taste

It did cause me to get braxton hicks they werent painful and its a nice feeling knowing its doing its job, i dilated to 3cm before going into labour with my son so it was doing something!

Hope this helps xx

2. I drank it with DD2 - can't remember when I started or how much, but I had a very fast labour! Could be just coincidence, but I will be drinking it again.

I started contracting very mildly at around 7am 1 day before due date, they stopped at about 10am, then started again at around 9pm again mild. When to hospital at midnight, where the midwife actually tried to send me home  DD was born at 3am!

Can't say labour was easy or that I enjoyed it (some of your ladies are crazy ), but TBH I'm a whimp & terrified of labour, but when compared to many ladies stories I guess mine was very, very easy!

Good luck

3. i drank it with both my other 2 pregnancies, more with the 2nd than the 1st, but i cant say for definate that it was that which made me start to dilate with my 2nd as i went into early labour a few times so that could of also contributed but my 2nd labour was really fast, 2hrs 32mins from start to finish and my friend who also drank it was already 4cm dilated when she went into hosp to be induced at 38weeks due to high blood presure so i do think it does help to some extent.
the taste isnt that bad, i really didnt mind it, my friend used to put abit of sugar with it though as she found it to be abit bitter.xx

4. Thanks for all the reviews! I am going to be buying some today and will start drinking up!  Anything to help me get ready and have a nice strong uterus I am up for!

Usually I LOVE herbal teas, so hopefully I will like the taste, but if it seems unpleasant I will surely try a bit of honey or sugar.

Thanks, ladies! It's great to hear that it "may" help speed things along and make labor more effective when the time is right. Seems like the ladies who drink it don't have the "3 day long labor ended with a c-section" kind of stories!

As far as the timing of drinking it - from what I read it says it DOES NOT cause any contractions and simply tones the uterus and strengthens the uterine walls so it is safe for the second and third trimester. "Some" midwives say it can cause spotting in the first trimester, but no one really knows because lots of women have spotting in the first trimester with or without tea!

The benefits of drinking a raspberry leaf brew before and throughout pregnancy include:
~ Increasing fertility in both men and women. Raspberry leaf is an excellent fertility herb when combined with Red Clover.
~ Preventing miscarriage and hemorrhage. Raspberry leaf tones the uterus and helps prevent miscarriage and postpartum hemorrhage from a relaxed or atonic uterus.
~ Easing of morning sickness. Many attest to raspberry leaves’ gentle relief of nausea and stomach distress throughout pregnancy.
~ Reducing pain during labor and after birth. By toning the muscles used during labor and delivery, Raspberry leaf eliminates many of the reasons for a painful delivery and prolonged recovery. It does not, however, counter the pain of pelvic dilation.
~ Assisting in the production of plentiful breast milk. The high mineral content of Raspberry leaf assist in milk production, but its astringency may counter that for some women.
~ Providing a safe and speedy parturition. Raspberry leaf works to encourage the uterus to let go and function without tension. It does not strengthen contractions, but does allow the contracting uterus to work more effectively and so may make the birth easier and faster.
